About Our Company

Our roots go back to the mid-20th century when our family business started trading authentic handmade carpets worldwide. In 1965, Mohammad Bagher Haghnegahdar , one of the co-founders of German Carpet Shop , took over the leadership and transformed the company into a global leader in the luxury carpet industry .

Our history and expansion

We originally operated our business in a traditional marketplace in Persia to meet the growing demand for authentic handmade rugs. With the rise of Gabbeh rugs in the 1980s, German Carpet Shop was able to expand its production and offer a wide range of these characteristically colorful, minimalist rugs. We also began producing Kilim rugs, which are known for their flat-weaving technique and detailed geometric patterns and continue to be a popular choice for those seeking traditional but versatile rugs for modern spaces.

For over 20 years, our branch in Hamburg, Germany has served as our European headquarters to provide fast and reliable service to our customers on the continent. We source and produce our handmade rugs in Nepal and India, using techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.
